I can’t seem to get enough soccer. I watch it all the time. I play FIFA 07 nonstop. I’m drooling over FIFA 08.
I think about perfect corners and free kicks when I daydream. I train relentlessly, even though I’m 25 and will never make it to the majors or premiership. I watch FSC all day. I wear soccer scrubs to work (I’m a medic). I have my 20 month old boy shouting “goal” and using his feet to kick a mini-ball. I made him a small goal using pvc pipe and bird netting. What is it about this game that is so damn intriguing. I love the game and can’t seem to get enough of it. And to top it off, I’m American. I should be into baseball, or basketball or American Football (which does kick ass, by the way). But nothing comes close to the feeling I get when I see that ball fly by the Keeper and the ball sinks into the back of the net. Isn’t it truely the worlds greatest game? Am I alone, or are there other people who are just plain fanatics about this sport. It’s 2007, and I’m already getting excited for 2010 in South Africa. Please tell me I’m not alone in my soccer maddness.

Manchester United Moves Back to Top of Premier League (Update1)
April 24 (Bloomberg) — Manchester United moved back to the top of English soccer’s Premier League with a 3-1 home win over Tottenham. Nani scored the winner in the 81st minute and Ryan Giggs converted two penalty kicks to put United two points ahead of Chelsea with two games remaining in the season.

i just started to play soccer. at a game when the ball goes out of play what team does the throw in? what is a corner kick? what other things do i need to know?
throw in – if players from team A touch the ball the last when the ball went out, team B does the throw in, vice versa.
corner kick – In association football a corner kick is awarded if the defensive team is the last to touch the ball before it crosses its own goal line (goal line of the end of the field it is defending) outside of the goal itself (whether by kicking or off the hands of the goalkeeper).
